In British Columbia (BC), Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) are health professionals regulated by the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC). During appointments they use hands-on methods to assess and treat soft tissues and joints to relieve pain, promote health, and help you reach your optimum level of physical function, whatever point you may be starting from and whatever that level may be. They may suggest movement modifications, simple exercises, and other tools you can use at home to help yourself reach your health care goals. They may also teach you about the symptom(s) or condition(s) you are currently experiencing so that you are better able to understand the assessment, treatment, and self care strategies being used in your care. The Registered Massage Therapists Association of BC (RMTBC) is the professional association for BC RMTs; visit the website to learn more about you and your RMT.
