I have a book of quotations that I have collected over the years. I enjoy perusing the collection every once in a while to see what I might see, and this one stood out to me today. It is from a book by Ann Daly called Critical Gestures: Writings on Dance and Culture.
Practicing yoga helps us shift from ‘presenting’ ourselves to ‘being’ ourselves. It helps us notice that the outer shells we use to present, to contain, to hide, or to protect our inner light are perhaps less relevant to our self-definition than the light itself. Practicing yoga helps us let this light just be, with less dissonance and more harmony within the outer layers of ourselves.
Be beautiful today…just be.
